Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc
. is a full-service ship repair facility conveniently located on deep water in the Port of Norfolk. Founded in 1875, it is the oldest family owned full service private shipyard in the United States. The Company’s reputation is built on a long tradition of quality workmanship, on time deliveries, cost-effectiveness and solid business management. With a 17,200 ton NAVSEA 1625 certified floating drydock, a 2,800 ton floating drydock, two marine railways and a full array of shops and repair facilities, Colonna’s is able to undertake a wide range of in-plant repair, overhaul and conversion projects on ships up to 850 feet in length, and 29’ foot mean draft.
One of Colonna’s most valuable assets is its skilled workforce representing the full spectrum of marine trades including highly skilled welders, shipfitters, electricians, pipefitters, inside machinists, outside machinists, boilermakers, steel fabrication technicians,riggers and ship repair management teams. Colonna’s employs more than 400 people and enjoys an exceptionally cooperative team relationship among its employees. Many employees have been with Colonna’s as long as 40 years.
Colonna’s offers complete inside shop facilities, including a modern high capacity steel fabrication shop supported by an inventory of more than 500 tons of steel, machine shop with lathes up to 95’, electrical shop, pipe shop, sheet metal shop, paint/sandblasting department, carpenter shop and rigging services. Colonna’s production services are supported by complete engineering, quality, testing, and design capabilities.
